Laser cutting

Laser cutting is a commonly used process for cutting various materials. With high precision, high speed and versatility.

Laser cutting is a type of thermal separation process.The laser beam hits the surface of the material and heats it strongly, causing it to melt or evaporate completely.After the laser beam has fully penetrated a point in the material, the actual cutting process begins.In this process, the laser system separates the material according to the selected geometry. Depending on the cutting material, the use of different industrial gases can form a better protection of the cut surface, optimize the formation of the section and increase the cutting speed.

The maximum machining thickness of our equipment for different materials is described:

  • Carbon steel can be processed ≤40mm thickness,Including low alloy steel plate, high strength steel plate, pressure vessel steel plate, carbon alloy steel plate, wear resistant steel plate (such as hardox series)
  • Stainless steel can be processed ≤25mm thickness,Including stainless steel 201,304,316L,310 etc.

Compared with other types of thermal cutting such as plasma cutting and flame cutting, this processing scheme has its own unique characteristics

  • Good cutting quality,Because the laser spot is small, the energy density is high, and the cutting speed is fast, the laser cutting can obtain better cutting quality.
  • ①The laser cutting incision is narrow, both sides of the slit are parallel and perpendicular to the surface, and the dimensional accuracy of the cutting parts can reach ±0.05mm.

    ② The cutting surface is smooth and beautiful, the surface roughness is only tens of microns, and even laser cutting can be used as the last process, without mechanical processing, and the parts can be used directly

    ③After the material is laser cut, the width of the heat affected zone is small, the performance of the material near the slit is almost unaffected, and the workpiece deformation is small, the cutting precision is high, the geometry of the slit is good, and the cross-section shape of the slit is more regular rectangular.

  • Fast cutting speed,

    For example, cutting 2mm thick low carbon steel plate, cutting speed up to 600cm/min; As the thickness of the plate increases, its speed will also decrease accordingly, but its cutting speed is the fastest compared with other kinds of cutting technology, because the material does not need to be fixed in the laser cutting, it can save the fixture, and save the auxiliary time on and off the material to further improve its production speed, so it can be processed in large quantities.

Our company is mainly a medium wire cutting machine tool processing, we through the transformation and upgrading of high-speed EDM wire-cutting machine tools, can achieve multiple cutting on high-speed EDM wire-cutting machine tools, it can achieve no stripe cutting and multiple cutting reciprocating wire EDM wire-cutting, can significantly improve the processing quality, to solve the impact of material deformation during cutting. Improve machining accuracy, obtain lower surface roughness and eliminate round-trip cutting streaks.

  The wire-cutting machine consists of a machine body consisting of a bed, a wire transport organization, a table and a wire frame.The bed is used to support and connect the workbench, the wire organization and other components, and the machine appliance and the working fluid circulation system are placed inside. The electric motor drives the storage cylinder to roll forward and backward, and the rotating motion is transformed into reciprocating linear motion by the guide wheel of the wire frame.The table is divided into two layers, separately connected with X and Y screw, and driven by two stepper motors separately. Each time the stepper motor receives an electrical pulse signal, it rotates the step Angle so that the table moves 0.001mm in the corresponding direction. The wire frame is used to support the electrode wire and keep the working part of the electrode wire at a certain Angle with the table plane.

  After many years of processing experience on the workbench and control arm for the overall strengthening, we can achieve the maximum width 1250*1250mm, the maximum plate thickness of 1000mm for uninterrupted cutting of the workpiece, to achieve accuracy between 0.005-0.01mm.

Wire-cut EDM is being cut

Compared with thermal cutting or turning and milling drilling, this processing scheme has its own unique characteristics:

  1. The direct use of 0.03 ~ 0.05mm metal wire as the electrode, the shape can be determined arbitrarily, which can save the design and manufacturing costs of the electrode.
  2.  Regardless of the hardness of the workpiece material, as long as it is a conductor or semiconductor material, it can be processed, and the electrode wire loss is small, and the processing precision is high.
  3. Suitable for small batch, complex shape parts, single pieces and test products processing and mass production parts requiring high precision, but because of the low metal removal rate of wire cutting processing, high precision characteristics compared to laser cutting or water cutting processing costs are higher.
  4. In EDM machining, the electrode wire is not in direct contact with the workpiece, and the deformation of the workpiece is very low under the influence of water-based cutting fluid.
  5. Using four-axis linkage, it can process taper, upper and lower allotrope parts.
  6. Due to the machining principle of EDM, it does not have the ability to process non-conductive materials.
